Innovative Client Services Strategies

For the area utility company
- We handle procurement activities for all communications material produced for this utility, whether produced by Harperprints or by subcontract vendors that have been qualified by us. We consult with them as needed on upcoming projects and provide a monthly accounting of the savings that our efforts have generated.

For a nationwide internet service provider
- A program was developed to allow them to send new subscriber names to us via the internet after midnight each night. By 3PM the next day each subscriber is shipped a customized new subscriber kit (including installation diskettes, installation manual, quick start card, etc. in a pocket folder). This is accomplished by Harperprints controlling all aspects of production, including diskette duplication, control of the inventory of all items, kitting and warehousing. In addition, to make this easy for the customer, the kits are billed after they are shipped on a weekly basis.

For a large multi-national company
- This company has product launches during the year requiring the coordination of a great deal of individual pieces, all printed in various languages that must be produced, kitted and distributed on a tight timeline. Our last project for them was over $500,000 and had to be in foreign locations 3 weeks after we started receiving the digital art. We handled the first one of these in 1995 and it was the first time (according to the customer) that a print vendor had completed the job on time as we did that time and have done every time since.

For a software company
- In 1997 we implemented a program that allows us to receive their revised documentation via electronic transmission on a weekly basis. It is then converted and imaged in our On-Demand center, combined with preprinted covers held in stock and delivered in 2 days.

For a soft goods manufacturer
- In the spring of this year we developed a manufacturing schedule that results in our being able to resupply their stock of tip-ons and bag inserts on a weekly basis. Prior to that they either had line shutdowns because of lack of these items or had to carry an unneccessarily large inventory to prevent that from happening. We eliminated both of these problems and provide the printed products at a lower cost to boot.

For a translation company in Chicago, Illinois
- Six weeks ago we developed and implemented a system of electronic communication for file transfer and remote proofing which allows us to work with this very distant account to get high quality results quickly.

For two paper mills
- A system was created that utilizes a customized test form to run print trials on their papers on a regular basis to test new coatings, base stock formulations, etc. The system also includes our Quality Assurance department taking responsibility for providing analytical information to the mills' Quality Department. This is handled in such a way that both companies know we do trials for the other but because it is handled in a confidential manner, they are completely comfortable.
